With a history rooted in Northern Indiana Drag racing since 1957, Osceola Dragway also reaches deep into the history if the International Hot Rod Association. The quarter-mile drag strip will return to the IHRA effective immediately with a multi-year agreement and Osceola Dragway offers Friday night test and tunes and weekly Sunday bracket races.
“It’s great to have the Osceola Team back on board,” said IHRA Division Director Jon O’Neal. “The sportsman racers of the area have been missed and we’re glad to be able to provide the Summit SuperSeries and Team Finals programs to them once again. Ruth and Tim’s presence at the Division 5 Team Finals meeting this year will be a treat to the other track operators as their never wavering spirit puts a smile on everyone’s face.”
Osceola Dragway has hosted IHRA Summit Racing Equipment divisional events and has been through facility upgrades including new restrooms and concession facilities since the IHRA flag last flew over the facility. The management is also looking forward to timing system upgrades for the 2014 season.
“Right now, I’m really excited. Due to our racers input, we felt this was the right thing to do,” said Ruth Chizum, owner of Osceola Dragway. “This is the right fit right now for our drag strip. Our racers are looking forward to the Bracket finals and feel closer to home with the IHRA.”
Rich Kent, IHRA chassis inspector, will be on hand May 10 for any certifications that are needed. Please contact Ruth at the track at (574) 674-8400 to schedule an appointment.
