Opened in 2004 after Shelor Automotive Group purchased the Radford, Va., facility, the property features a true 1/8-mile dragstrip and NASCAR-sanctioned 0.416-mile paved oval nestled on 170 acres of rolling hills that offers amazing scenery for spectators enjoying events.
The track recently announced it would continue to expand on its successful IHRA Summit SuperSeries bracket racing format in 2020.
“With renewed vigor, the crew at Motor Mile have made great strides to promote the Summit SuperSeries and sportsman drag racing at the facility,” IHRA Division Director Jon O’Neal said.
Motor Mile Dragway general manager Steve Groseclose mentioned how the staff goes the extra mile to provide a top-notch facility for both racers and spectators.
“We take a lot of pride in taking care of the track from how we prep the track to ensuring the bleachers are clean,” Motor Mile Dragway General Manager Steve Groseclose said. “We want to treat racers as if they are family.”
The track features some of the closest competition of any track in North America. Motor Mile Dragway is also the home to 2013 IHRA Summit SuperSeries Mod World Champion Kevin Pollard.
“The amount of competitiveness we have here it isn’t uncommon that you could see .000 reaction times from both lanes on a given night.” Groseclose said.
The 2019 IHRA Summit SuperSeries track champions are: Donnie Quesenberry (Top), George Page (Mod) and Lauren Overfelt (Junior Dragster).
