Eager Named IHRA Northern Divisions Director

Saturday, 10 December 2022

HOUSE SPRINGS, Missouri — The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) has named Christopher Eager its new Northern Divisions director for tracks in Divisions 1, 3 and 5.

Eager is a racing veteran, a competitor in the Box class at Dragway 42 with a dragster that runs a 4.40 elapsed time. Passionate about the sport, he has two daughters who race Junior Dragsters and will be soon getting their licenses to run in Box.

As the newest IHRA team member, he knows the importance of listening to fellow racers and track operators.

“I went to the IHRA (Division 5) Team Finals in Martin, Michigan and the World Finals in Mississippi and talked to racers, track owners and other track operators,” Eager said. “We love the track owners and want them to know we need them to make this grow and be successful like everyone wants.”

Eager loves the family atmosphere that IHRA has consistently provided over its 50 year-plus history. In its sixth decade, the IHRA remains the premier racing organization for grassroots, Sportsman racers. There’s a camaraderie at IHRA tracks, which is the envy of other racing organizations.

“It’s definitely a family away from family. All the relationships and different people you meet along the way, you experience the camaraderie and it’s a great community,” Eager said. “I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

At the center of the IHRA’s racing programs is the IHRA Summit SuperSeries. It is the most prestigious championship in grassroots racing, giving the opportunity for thousands of IHRA members to compete for IHRA World Championships in Top (Box), Mod (No Box), Sportsman and Junior Dragster classes.

“I think the IHRA Summit SuperSeries is a great opportunity. It’s more than just another points race,” Eager said. “It gives you a sense of achievement when you get to World Finals through the track or Team Finals. It gives you something to work for.”

The new IHRA leadership wants to make things even better and encourages an open dialogue with the racers and track operators. Eager and his wife Amanda look forward to meeting even more racers in 2023. You can reach out to him at ceager@ihra.com for any questions you may have.
