IHRA President Currently Taking a Tour of Member Tracks

HOUSE SPRINGS, Missouri — Talk about personal service. International Hot Rod Association President Mel Roth has begun a tour of IHRA-member tracks around the Southeast, starting Wednesday with a visit with South Carolina Motorplex track owners Candice Roberson and Jesse (J.P.) Williams.

The Orangeburg, S.C. track has revived its bracket racing program in 2023 and is participating in the IHRA Summit SuperSeries, the most prestigious national championship in grassroots, Sportsman racing. South Carolina Motorplex is even scheduled to host the IHRA Division 9 Summit Team Finals, Sept. 28-30.

Roth will be visiting other IHRA Division 9 (Raiders) tracks over the next few days. He also has stops planned at IHRA Division 1 (Patriots) tracks, including Motor Mile Dragway, which will host that division’s Summit Team Finals, Sept. 21-23.

This trip includes travels through the newly-formed IHRA Division 8 (South), which consists of tracks in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. Alabama International Dragway will host the IHRA Division 8 Team Finals, Sept. 28-30. 

Plans are also hit up Beacon Dragway and Ellis I57 Dragstrip on the way back to IHRA headquarters.

Racing has already gotten underway at some IHRA-member tracks with others to fire up soon. The IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Moser Engineering and Fuel Tech starts Saturday, March 25 with races at Piedmont Dragway, Julian, N.C., and State Capitol Raceway, Port Allen, La.
