He’s visited race tracks in the mountains of East Tennessee and others in Georgia and Alabama. There have been noticeable improvements at every stop along the way.
After leaving the East Coast, where he toured tracks from Florida to Virginia, Roth headed west across the Appalachian Mountains to English Mountain Raceway in Newport, Tennessee. It’s the newest track under IHRA sanction, returning to the fold after operating the last few years as an independent facility.
Next was a visit to Knoxville Dragway, a track synonymous with success, home of three IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Champions over the last five years. Roth then headed South to Brainerd Motorsports Park. The North Georgia track, located right off Interstate 75, has been one of the most popular places to race in the country in recent years.
From there, Roth teamed up with veteran racer Brody Quick for a tour of Alabama facilities. Stops included IHRA-member tracks Baileyton “Good Time” Drag Strip, Holiday Raceway, I-22 Motorsports Park and Alabama International Dragway, which will be the site of the IHRA Division 8 Summit Team Finals.
They also spoke with representatives of Huntsville Dragway about the plans to re-open that historic facility. Visits were made to other historic tracks including the iconic Bama Dragway and Lassiter Mountain Dragway.
On the way back to the IHRA headquarters, Roth was able to go to a day of racing at Beacon Dragway and then head to Ellis I-57 Dragstrip.
“These visits have been so important, to meet these dedicated track operators who give our member racers the great places to compete,” Roth said. “We’re thankful for them and our racers who are truly the backbone of the IHRA.”
