“It’s going to be one big hurrah to kick off the IHRA season,” track owner Albert Rodriguez said. “We look to have entries of racers all around Texas. We will have our traditional Box, No Box, Sportsman, Motorcycle and Juniors as well as the Electric cars. It’s great to start off the season with a big bang.”
IHRA Summit SuperSeries points races resume March 30. Other Saturday dates are: May 4, June 1, July 6 and August 31. Edinburg Motorsports Park features a 1/4-mile drag strip, which helps give a huge shutdown area for the 1/8-mile races.
There’s also the Cool Station which features all kinds of EMP merchandise, souvenirs and race gear. There’s the Fuel Station with different types of fuel offered and the Pit Stop Grill which has plenty of tasty food options.
William Keele Jr., the Motorcycle runner-up, headlined the list of Edinburg Motorsports Park representatives at the 2023 IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals. Other EMP representatives were: Gabriel Hernandez (Box), Allen Friedeck (No Box), Jason Hildebrandt (Sportsman) and Felipe Trevino (Junior Dragster).
Proven to be good for his racers, Rodriguez is a big believer in the IHRA and its programs.
“This past year, I was really impressed with (IHRA Owner) Larry Jeffers, (IHRA President) Mel Roth and everybody else,” Rodriguez said. “The team finals and world finals were well run. We’re devoted to stay with IHRA a long time as it’s great to have a team that cares about the track and the racers.”
