To say the odds were stacked against Jerry Cotton in 2017 would be a huge understatement.

At an age when most folks retire and battling a health condition which left him nowhere near full strength, Cotton came within one round of becoming an International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) World Champion.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Farmington Dragway is the latest track to be named as a host for the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit Sportsman Spectacular.

The double-race weekend for the IHRA’s new bracket racing program at Farmington Dragway, Mocksville, N.C. is scheduled for March 9-11, 2018.  

The races feature a $10,000-to-win payout on Saturday and a $5,000-to-win on Sunday.

Darlington Dragway was named International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Track of the Year in 2016 and hosted one of the sanctioning bodies’ largest events in 2017.

That hasn’t meant the folks at the historic South Carolina track are resting on their laurels. Quite the contrary, there are more upgrades being made to the facility. It includes the first 750 feet of the track from the burnout boxes to about 150 feet past the 1/8-mile finish line to be all concrete.
