WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 3, 2017) — Due to persistent rain and a forecast calling for more inclement weather, International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) officials have postponed the Division 2 South (Heat Wave) Summit Team Finals scheduled for Oct. 4-8 at Palm Beach International Raceway in Jupiter, Fla.

Memphis International Raceway entered two teams in the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Division 2 West (Heat Wave) Summit Team Finals at its home track in Millington, Tenn. One of those teams came away with the championship.

MIR team No. 1 finished with 43 points to edge teams from Middle Tennessee Dragway and Brainerd Optimist Dragstrip, who both finished with 35 points.

Maryland International Raceway drivers repeated as champions at the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Division 1 (Patriots) Summit Team Finals held at their home track in Budds Creek, Maryland.

MDIR’s final margin of victory was 56-44 over Capitol Raceway.

Winning an International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) World Championship is difficult no matter the circumstances; throw in a battle with Mother Nature, and the task becomes even more daunting.  IHRA Stock World Champion Myron Piatek was set to compete at the season’s final two events at Dragway 42 in West Salem, Ohio on Sept. 23 and 24, but Hurricane Irma apparently had other ideas for the Holly Hill, Fla., driver.

Webb, Rowland win Aruba trips

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Christopher Webb and Vernon Rowland have double the reason to celebrate their performances in the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit Sportsman National Championship with the vacation of a lifetime.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 29, 2017) — Construction is in full swing at a pair of brand-new International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) member tracks with events scheduled over the coming weeks.

Rob Harvischak is truly at the right place, at the right time.

Billed from his hometown of Warren, Ohio, the actual community where Harvischak lives is named Champion. That’s certainly appropriate since Harvischak is the new International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Top Sportsman World Champion.

The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit Team Finals are scheduled for two different divisions this weekend.

Teams from Division 1 (Patriots) will compete at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, Md., and those from Division 2 West (Heat Wave) will race at Memphis International Raceway in Millington, Tenn.

If ever something was meant to be, perhaps it was the IHRA Summit Sportsman National Championship Troy Williams, Jr., won in Top Sportsman this year. Williams had won multiple championships but none when he faced a significant health challenge and missed a large part of the season like he did in 2017.
