Weekend Wrap-up: Busy weekend nets more than 50 Summit Pro-Am Tour winners in Pennsylvania, Texas and British Columbia

Monday, 14 July 2014

With just four weekends remaining in the 2014 IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL season, the action is really beginning to heat up highlighted by an intense three days of racing over the weekend as the best-of-the-best were out in full force in Pennsylvania, Texas and British Columbia.

Racers in Divisions 1, 4 and 6 took to the track during a busy race weekend for the final races in each of those divisions, while Divisions 2, 3 and 9 still have one event each remaining. Pittsburgh Raceway Park was the site of the final race in Division 1 as the track in New Alexandria hosted racers in two divisions, while Pine Valley Raceway wrapped up the Division 4 season and Northern Lights Raceway welcomed racers from Division 6 for the final tilt in Canada.

Among the weekend’s biggest winners, Louisiana native Jimmy Hidalgo Jr. swept both days in Super Stock at Pine Valley in his 1999 Pontiac Firebird and added a runner-up in Stock to give him a Summit Pro-Am Tour-leading five victories this season. Pete D’Agnolo, from Rochester, N.Y., kept pace with Hidalgo with two victories in Super Stock at Pittsburgh Raceway Park in his beautiful 1967 Chevrolet Camaro. In Division 6, Tom Patterson led the way with a sweep of the Super Rod category for his fourth final of 2014, with three wins.

Winners from the Division 1 competition at Pittsburgh Raceway Park were Mark Payne and Scott Wasko (Top Sportsman), Cody Bayus and William Crawford (Top Dragster), Pete D’Agnolo (Super Stock), Michael Bolton and Aaron Allison (Stock), Garry Fleenor and Patrick Forster (Quick Rod), Vince Gregoire and Jacob Elrod (Super Rod) and John Dustin and David Meador (Hot Rod).
