With only a few races remaining in the 2014 IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL season, racing was intense throughout the weekend as drivers battled for the win and crucial championship points at the Division 3 season finale at US 131 Motorsports Park.

Brad Lefever, from Columbia City, Indiana, was the big winner from this past weekend’s Summit Pro-Am Tour doubleheader in Martin, Michigan, sweeping the Super Rod category with a pair of nice passes. Chris Cadle and Jeremy Mason joined Lefever as double finalists, with each driver taking a win and a runner-up during the weekend.

The complete list of winners from the Division 3 season finale were Don Swindell and Jeff Melnick (Top Sportsman), Chris Cadle and Will Crawford (Top Dragster), Aaron Allison and A.H. Adkins (Super Stock), Jim Brehm and Ben Wenzel (Stock), Larry Bernshausen and Jeremy Mason (Quick Rod), Brad Lefever (Super Rod) and Ricky Roe and Steve Mikus (Hot Rod).

Lefever got the job done in Super Rod with a pair of tremendous packages, producing a .036 package in the finals on Saturday followed by a .031 package on Sunday. Lefever defeated Paul Brown on day one of competition, producing a 9.912-second elapsed time in the 9.90-index class with a .024 reaction time while Brown broke out with a 9.899. On day two, Lefever had another great lap, crossing the finish line with a 9.915 at 156.33 mph with a .016 reaction time. Runner-up Rick Bayus had a 9.949 at 154.68.

Jeremy Mason, from Waco, Kentucky, came close to joining Lefever in the double-win club with a pair of final rounds in Michigan in Quick Rod. Mason won day two with an 8.933-second lap in the 8.90 class over Ed Smith, but fell short in his first final of the weekend as Larry Bernshausen, from Manito, Illinois, took home the Ironman with an 8.926 at 157.43 to Mason’s 8.955 at 155.76.

Chris Cadle, from Monroe, Michigan, also came up just shy of a pair of Ironman trophies at US 131 Motorsports Park with a victory over Gary Garvelink followed by a narrow defeat by Will Crawford. Competing in the fastest class on the property, Cadle was able to cruise to the day one win in Top Dragster when Garvelink went red, but he faced a much different challenge on day one. Going up against fellow Michigan native Will Crawford, Cadle got the jump on the line with a .012 reaction time to Crawford’s .020, but Crawford ran a near-perfect 7.552 on a 7.55 at 175.01 to take the win.
