That is why, with the IHRA’s championship tournament now solely going through the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour, the IHRA is officially recognizing the top division at each Tournament of Champions competition beginning with this year’s race. The top division at the Tournament of Champions will be decided by the number of round wins in the tournament by competitors from that division.
This year, the Division 3 North Stars led all divisions at this year’s Summit Racing Tournament of Champions presented by AMSOIL at Memphis International Raceway by a wide margin, accounting for 35 round wins and two World Championships. Scotty Stillings and Jeremy Mason helped push the division into the spotlight with championships in Super Stock and Quick Rod respectively. In all, 10 drivers from the North Stars Division finished in the final top five in their respective class, also the most of any division.
Division 2, consisting mainly of tracks in the southeast, was second with 25 round wins in Memphis, followed by Division 1 with 20 round wins. Division 4, which was the top division last season, had the fourth most wins at this year’s Tournament of Champions with 18. Division 9 and Division 6 round out the list with 15 and seven round wins respectively.
Congratulations to all of the competitors in Division 3!
