The Palm Beach race is now set for Friday March 24th at Darlington Dragway with two rounds of qualifying scheduled prior to eliminations. Because competitors received refunds for all entries into the Feb. 12 Palm Beach event, the Friday race at Darlington is open to all new entries and qualifying will start fresh Friday at 9 a.m. as if the Feb. 12 race never happened.
“We worked hard to find a suitable date to run the race at Palm Beach International Raceway, but the only clear date before the heat of summer was Easter weekend,” IHRA division director Josh Peake said. “That weekend was an issue for the competitors and ESPN3. When we talked to racers about rescheduling the event, they were evenly split between racing on Easter and moving the race to Darlington so we simply chose not to race on a holiday weekend and to make Darlington a triple-race weekend – that makes the Darlington weekend huge for racers in that region that are chasing points towards maximizing their points claims.
“We’d like to thank Darren Thompson and his PBIR team for their efforts to give us an option to return to Palm Beach International Raceway, and we’d like to thank Russell Miller and the team at Darlington Raceway for providing this option for a triple-race weekend.”
The original Darlington races scheduled for Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26 will be run as scheduled including two qualifying rounds on Saturday and one qualifying round on Sunday prior to eliminations. The revised Darlington Dragway schedule is available HERE.
