“It’s unfortunate that we have to make this decision, but after rescheduling this event four times we have simply run out of options,” IHRA division director Frank Kohutek said. “We have to take into consideration the expenses our racers would incur traveling to a race with virtually no chance of getting on the track this weekend as well as the conflicts with other class racing and big money events that exist for the next few weekends. We appreciate State Capitol Raceway working with us to reschedule the event multiple times and doing their best to try and make this happen for all the racers. They went above and beyond to try and get this race in. We will be notifying all of the original group of racers from the first rainout that still have tech cards at State Capitol on the refund process. The track will be refunding all of the car and driver entries from the original weekend as soon as possible."
The IHRA Summit Sportsman National Championship series will continue with a double race weekend at Carolina Dragway in Aiken, S.C., on Sept. 1-3 and conclude at Dragway 42 on September 22-24.
