An extensive grinding and resurfacing of the over 60-year-old facility greets racers at the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) sanctioned track in West Salem, Ohio. Bleacher seats which were formerly used at the Daytona International Speedway now adorn the track along with state-of-the-art Musco Lighting that has been upgraded.
Other amenities at the facility include Sunoco Race Fuels, the official fuel of the IHRA, which supplies, 110, 112, 116, and Methanol race fuel to competitors.
They still feature the IHRA Summit SuperSeries, the largest and most prestigious bracket racing national championship in drag racing where eligible track champions in the Top, Mod and Junior divisions have the chance to race at the IHRA Summit World Finals.
Dragway 42 features a full schedule of events. In the month of June alone, the facility hosts the a big three-day Mopar event and the American Dream Summer Shootout.
On June 8-10, those racers will also have the chance to participate in the IHRA Summit Sportsman Spectacular. The double-race weekend gives racers the opportunity to race for huge payouts on Moser Engineering Saturday which features a $10,000 to-win purse and Sunday which features a $5,000 to-win purse.
“I heard years ago that racers make the worst promoters because they give the farm away,” Dragway 42 General Manager Gary Harper said. “But, my thought process is you take care of the racers and everything else falls into place.”
Fans can attend the IHRA Summit Sportsman Spectacular at Dragway 42. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for children ages 6-12 for the weekend.
