Each event is tailored to the track’s individual racing programs.
It’s part of a three-day event at Motor Mile Dragway at Pulaski County Motorsports Park. The weekend includes a Gamblers’ race on Friday and IHRA Summit SuperSeries points racing both Saturday, and Sunday.
The IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Moser Engineering and FuelTech is tailored to each track’s programs. There are $2,000-to-win races with a 50-car minimum for the Top ET (Box) and Footbrake (Mod) classes at Motor Mile on Saturday and Sunday. Double entries are allowed. The Sportsman and Junior Dragster classes will also be contested.
Gates open at 2 p.m. with time runs at 5 p.m. and eliminations at 7 p.m. Saturday sees gates open at 8 a.m. with time runs at 11 a.m. and eliminations to follow. Gates open at 9 a.m. Sunday with time runs at 12:30 p.m. and eliminations to follow.
Spectator admission is $15 each day and kids 10-under are admitted free.
At Muncie Dragway, it’s part of a three-day event with the Moser Engineering Big Bucks Shootout.
It starts Friday night with a $2,000-to-win race. Saturday’s Sportsman Spectacular day and Sunday each features $5,000-to-win races. The Sportsman class features a $400-to-win race. In addition, there will be a second-chance, $1,200-to-win race Saturday sponsored by Budweiser.
All eligible class winners will receive entry to the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals, the Ironman trophies and the big checks.
Double entries are allowed, and the Junior Dragsters are also racing Saturday and Sunday.
Gates open 2 p.m. Friday with timed runs at 5:30 p.m. and eliminations at 8 p.m. Gates open 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday features time runs at 10 a.m. followed by racing. There is one time run for new entries only Sunday with racing to follow.
Weekend entry is $260 and $475 for weekend double entry. Single-day entries are $70 Friday and $125 each for Saturday and Sunday. Race winners on Saturday and Sunday receive a $125 gift certificate from Moser Engineering plus a $500 gifts certificate towards labor from Diamond Engine and Machine. Sportsman entry is just $30.
Spectator admission is $10 each day or $25 for the entire weekend.
Here are important facts regarding the events:
• Saturday winners, who are IHRA members, now earn entry into the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals in conjunction with entering at least two other IHRA races (IHRA-member track Summit SuperSeries team race or other IHRA Sportsman Spectacular races). Current IHRA membership is required.
