WHAT TO EXPECT : The first of three Division 1 Patriots double events will be held at Richmond Dragway April 26-28. Friday gates will be open at noon for parking and tech will run from 1-9 p.m. There will be a test and tune from 5-9 p.m. for those interested in participating.  

On Saturday the gates and tech will open at 8 a. m . Two rounds of time trials/qualifying will begin at 9 a.m. with eliminations immediately following. On Sunday gates will open at 8 a.m. with God Speed church service at 8:30 a.m. and one time trial beginning at 9:30 a.m. (time and weather permitting) followed by eliminations.  

 

BONUS RACING

 

ET Bracket Race & Junior Dragster – In addition to the Summit Pro-Am competition, there will be ET bonus racing and Junior Dragster racing on Saturday, time and weather permitting. The Junior Dragster competition will be all run, one class with $350 and an Ironman to the winner.  

 

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING : “We are very excited to be back at Richmond for the first Division 1 race of the season. Johnny Davis and crew do a great job at the track and that is what keeps the racers coming back year after year,” said Jon O’Neal, IHRA Division 1 Director. “It is exciting to finally go racing after a few months off and I look forward to seeing all of our great Division 1 competitors out that weekend. It should be an incredible race.”  

 

FAST FACTS : Richmond Dragway has been a mainstay on the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour since 2009…At the 2012 Richmond Pro-Am there were no double winners, but a few heavy hitters did come out of that field. Top Dragster runner-up Wesley Washington Jr. went on to win the World Championship in his class, joining Quick Rod winner Corey Manuel who did the same…Division 1 contains some big-time IHRA hitters and Richmond Dragway always seems to host some of the best. Lately, the man that has had that tracks number is Calvin Butler who has visited four consecutive finals in Top Sportsman at the track with one win…Some of the most successful drivers at the track over the last four years include Calvin Butler with four finals and one win (all in the last two years), Brett Nesbitt with five finals and three wins, Anthony Bertozzi, Cameron Manuel and Bob Phillips with three finals and two wins apiece and some other big names including Terry Logan, Donald Webb, Bo Upton and Bryan and Byron Worner.

 

ROAD TO THE TOC : In 2013 the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL is now the only road to the year-end Summit Racing Tournament of Champions showdown in Memphis. Only the top three in each class within each division on the Summit Pro-Am Tour will advance to the championship tournament in October to runoff for the 2013 Summit World Championships and $10,000!
