Those champions, along with qualified Summit Team Finals champions from each IHRA region, are invited to compete in the IHRA Summit World Finals in Memphis, Tenn., on Oct. 18-20, 2018.
Over 10,000 IHRA Sportsman racers take part in the championship each season. Summit Racing Equipment, the official mail order company of IHRA, sponsors this program for thousands of grassroots racers at nearly 100 IHRA-sanctioned member tracks.
Here are the current Summit SuperSeries points leaders from IHRA member tracks Greer Dragway in Greer, S.C., and Quaker City Motorsports Park in Salem, Ohio.
Greer Dragway
Mark Davis Top (Box) is the current points leader over second-place Travis Dotson and third-place Ronnie Dotson.
Billy Norris Mod (No Box) holds the top spot in the standings with Jeff Lambert in second and Lee Haney in third place.
Will Dotson (Jr. Dragster) is atop the standings over Cam Garrett and Wallace Wilson who are tied for second-place.
Quaker City Motorsports Park
Greg Meyers Top (Box) holds the advantage over Albert Donell and Randy Harp who rounds out the top three in points.
Bruce Shonk Mod (No-Box) is the points leader over Russell Terrill in second-place and Chester Donnell in third-place.
Ryan Roberts (Jr. Dragster 8-12) holds the advantage over Tyler Rozhon and Caleb Hughes.
Kyle Hughes (Jr. Dragster 13-17) leads the way over Justin Greaver and David McGraw who rank second and third respectively.
Can these point leaders maintain their advantage and score an invitation to the Summit World Finals in Memphis, Tenn., October 18-20 and claim the championship prize package?
The championship prize package for the Top and Mod Division World Champions is $20,000 to win, an IHRA Gold Card, a World Championship Ironman Trophy, a World Championship diamond ring and a seven-night/eight-day vacation for two to Aruba.
The Junior Dragster payout includes a brand-new, turn-key dragster from American Race Cars, plus $3,000 to win. The rest of the point funds is $2,000 for runner-up, sixth-round $1,000, fifth round $800, fourth-round $500, third-round $400, second-round $350 and first round $300.
To get in on the action, competitors simply sign up for their IHRA Member Track points program while becoming a member of IHRA or simply renewing their IHRA membership. Competitors are then issued an “X” number (the second digit of the Summit SuperSeries registered numbers is an X) and that number must appear on your car during your track’s points earning events as well as on your track’s points listing on their website.
