Four Drivers are Race of Champions Winners at IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals

HOLLY SPRINGS, Ms. —  Four drivers emerged victorious in Friday’s Race of Champions at the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit SuperSeries World Finals at Holly Springs Motorsports.

Jamie Goodman from Hurt, Va., had the winning package in Top (Box) with a 5.925-second run at 114.21 mph against a 5.92 dial-in. Dave Edwards from Point Charlotte, Fla., ended in 4.823 seconds at 142.54 mph against a 4.81 dial-in. Goodman had the slightly better start .020 to .024 at the tree.

It was the second time the two had matched up. Goodman was double-entered and won his one semifinal. Edwards got the best of him in the other semifinal, although Goodman won the big race in the end.

Jordan Wilhelm from Delphos, Ohio was victorious in Mod (No Box) with a 6.406 elapsed time at 103.93 mph against a 6.40 dial-in. Matt Luckett from Breman, Ky., was better off the line .008 to .026, but broke out going 6.506 seconds at 104.07 mph against a 6.51 dial-in.

Another Ohio racer, Derek Simon from Continental, took a close win in Sportsman with a 7.626-second run at 88.43 mph. With Canadian racers back at the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals, Jeff Talbot from Heidelberg, Ontario took runner-up honors with an 8.708-second pass at 78.66 mph.

Avery Bolding from Rock Island, Tenn., was the Junior Dragster winner with an effort of 8.922 seconds at 70.69 mph with an 8.90 dial-in. Kane Kern from Pierre Port, La., had a break out at 8.104 seconds at 81.39 mph against an 8.12 dial-in. Bolding was quicker off the tree with a .065 to .077 for Kern.

Attention now turns to the main event as hundreds of IHRA Summit SuperSeries track champions, along with IHRA Summit Team Finals divisional champions around the United States and Canada, will compete Saturday for the largest and most prestigious national championship in bracket racing.
