HOUSE SPRINGS, Missouri — When the new International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) leadership took over last fall, they promised to take care of the grassroots, Sportsman racers. They certainly have with today’s announcement that over $275,000 in payouts and prizes will be given away at the 2023 IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals on October 5-7 at Holly Springs, Mississippi.

Yes, you read that right — over $275,000 in payouts and prizes to the participants at this year’s World Finals.

Champions will still win the big checks from Summit Racing Equipment, IHRA Gold Cards, World Champion Diamond Rings and the prestigious IHRA Ironman trophies. All racers still get $300 tow money for participating in the World Finals with the opportunity to win more money by each round they advance.

The most exciting additions to the program are the fabulous grand prizes offered.

Ezell Race Cars will provide a custom-built rolling chassis for the Top (Box) champion. This amazing piece built by noted car builder Johnny Ezell out of his Louisiana shop pushes the prize package for the Top World Champion well over $60,000.

Flying A Motorsports is furnishing a 28-foot enclosed trailer by inTech for the Mod (No Box) champion. With an all-tube aluminum construction and full perimeter aluminum frame, it’s top of the line. The Mod World champion now has a prize package worth in excess of $50,000.

That’s not all. In addition to the other Sportsman winnings, the champion now receives a flatbed car hauler from B&C Trailer Services. Longtime IHRA supporter Dart’s Carts will offer a fuel-injected golf cart to the Junior Dragster champion.

There’s the new Motorcycle class introduced this season with Evil SwingArms to provide a basic swingarm or a $575 voucher towards the purchase of a higher-priced swingarm.

An IHRA-member racer can qualify for the World Finals by either winning a Summit SuperSeries track championship at a participating IHRA-member track or by winning an IHRA Summit Team Finals main event class and meeting the eligibility requirements.

New for this season, race winners of IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Moser Engineering and Fuel Tech events also have the chance to qualify for the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals.
