Saturday marks the required date of July 1 to become an IHRA member and compete in this year’s Summit SuperSeries program and be a part of the IHRA Summit Team Finals. Act now as you don’t want to miss out on this and the other great benefits of being an IHRA member.
With this weekend’s racing action, we start Saturday in Division 1 (Patriots) with the always strong program hosted by Elk River Dragway. The track is lauded for its beautiful location in the Virginia countryside. It offers a scenic drive, but one not that far from Interstate 81.
Holly Springs Motorsports Park, the host track for the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals, is one of multiple tracks hosting Division 2 (Heatwave) races on Saturday. Two tracks in Kentucky — Beacon Dragway and London Dragway — look to keep building on their season-long momentum of great racing action. London, which has hosted several big events over recent weeks, has points races both Saturday and Sunday.
Ozark Raceway Park in Missouri has seen interest in its points program grow by leaps and bounds since becoming an IHRA-member track. Also in Division 2, Music City Raceway brings the sweet sounds of motors revving and tire-smoking burnouts to the Nashville area.
Kentucky Dragway is another track noted for its beautiful location and it’s hosting Division 3 (North Stars) racing Saturday. Muncie Dragway, which hosted an Ironman Classic the previous weekend, returns with Summit SuperSeries action. Three tracks in Ohio — Quaker City Motorsports Park, KD Motorsports Park and Dragway 42 — are scheduled to be in action. There’s more points racing Sunday at Dragway 42.
For racers in the Southwest, there is Division 4 (Renegades) racing scheduled Saturday. Albuquerque Dragway in New Mexico is enjoying its first season back with IHRA, while Little River Dragway brings more great action to the state of Texas. It’s a straight shot of nearly 1,500 miles and 22 hours north to Interlake Dragway in Manitoba, which hosts Division 6 (Midwest) races Sunday in Canada.
Division 8 (South) tracks Alabama International Dragway and Brainerd Motorsports Park in Georgia have Saturday races on tap. Both tracks are known for their convenient locations with Alabama International right off Interstate 59 in Steele, Alabama and Brainerd just south of Chattanooga, Tenn., off Interstate 75.
Finally, we wrap up with Division 9 (Raiders) at Wilkesboro Dragway in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina. It’s a great time to move up in the standings as Wilkesboro Dragway has a double points race scheduled for Saturday.
In addition, there are IHRA Ironman Classic events this weekend at Paris Dragstrip in Texas and Hilo Dragstrip in Hawaii.
But to compete for an IHRA Summit SuperSeries championship, make sure your membership is up to date by Saturday. There has never been a better time to be an IHRA member, and it’s super easy to get started.
