Dan Pluta topped the field in Saturday’s Top (Box) class at the IHRA Ironman Classic. His dragster bested Tom Niewohner in the final round of eliminations.
Dennis Copple had a fast Mopar machine in the Mod (No Box) class. He was able to get by Josh Moore in the final round to take home the Ironman trophy.
The black Pontiac Firebird of Jimmy Lopez hauled him to the win in the Sportsman class. Lopez took the winner honors and Ironman was Joe McCarty finished runner-up.
Cecilia Slifka was the Junior Dragster winner. She drove her black dragster to the win over Nolan Masek in the championship round.
Greysen Light rounded out the list of Saturday winners in the Teen Championship Racing program. He pushed a sharp silver Chevy Silverado across the finish line to beat Elizabeth Wehling in the final round.
Sunday featured a day of IHRA Summit SuperSeries bracket racing. Mike Beckwith’s nicely-designed dragster enabled him to beat Steph Fuller in the final round of Top eliminations.
Jack Underwood raced his orange colored, front-engine machine to the win over Chris Bonsall’s bright blue Fairlane for the win in the Mod class.
Lopez doubled in Sportsman with his second straight win. He faced a tough final-round opponent in Kirk Breier, who finished fifth in the 2022 IHRA Sportsman national standings.
Brooke Butler took top honors in Junior Dragster. She pedaled to the win over Mallori Harshfield to capture the victory.
The TCR final was a reversal from the day before. This time around, Wehling raced to the win as Light finished runner-up.
