Saskatchewan International Raceway Wrapping Up Season with Ironman, Points Races

Wednesday, 06 September 2023

SASKATOON, SK, Canada — Saskatchewan International Raceway is giving its racers a chance to win that prestigious IHRA Ironman trophy during this weekend’s season finale.

The IHRA Ironman Classic will be held Saturday in conjunction with the IHRA Summit SuperSeries points race No. 11 as the historic track wraps up its 57th season. Classes will be Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Street Legal and Junior Street Legal.

Gates open at 7 a.m. with qualifying starting at 10 a.m. and eliminations to begin around 1 p.m. There will be a Box and No Box “second chance race” on Saturday as well.

The IHRA Ironman Classic is offered to all IHRA-member tracks. Prior to this program, a sportsman racer could only win an Ironman if they traveled to an IHRA Summit Team Finals, Sportsman Spectacular or World Finals. This program gives local tracks a chance to create extra excitement in their bracket program and offer competitors a chance to win the prestigious Ironman.

The excitement doesn’t stop there. Points race No. 12 is scheduled for Sunday with gates open at 7 a.m. and qualifying at 9 a.m. Eliminations are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.

It promises to be a fun-filled weekend with Hector’s Grub Hub grilling great food all weekend and cold brews from the Makenzie Auto Beer Gardens. Spectator costs are $10 each day.
