Drivers Take Home Big Checks, Ironman Wins at 53rd annual Ken-Mor Bluegrass Nationals

CLAY CITY, Ky. — Another exciting chapter was added to the historic 53rd annual Ken-Mor Bluegrass Nationals at Kentucky Dragway.

With big money and the prestigious IHRA Ironman trophies on the line, the annual affair turned out to be an overwhelming success.

Tom Utz kicked off the weekend by capturing the $5,000 top prize in the IHRA Ironman City 64 race that was started on Friday and completed Saturday morning. Chase Conley raced to a runner-up finish. Corey Johnson won a Junior Gamblers race with Noah Jent making it to the final round.

Billy Clayton matched the feat on Saturday with his $5,000 victory in the IHRA Ironman City 64 race. He got the measure of Don Dewey in the final round.

John Brown posted the winning package to take home the huge $10,000 Top ET victory as he bested Hal Blevins in the final.

The Modified class offered $4,000-to-win and Landon Barber got the victory with Josh Bryan making it to the finals.

Kyle Feeback piloted his blue Ford Mustang to the Sportsman win as Ken Friedman posted a runner-up finish.

Donovan Rose completed the list of Saturday winners with his victory in the Junior Dragster class. Brody Marimon finished as runner-up.

Sunday’s action featured Justin Gaffney taking the Top ET victory. He and runner-up Carl McClanahan each took home a $5,000 big check.

The Combs brothers met in the Modified final with Zach Combs earning the win over Lil’ Phil Combs.

TJ Boyd drove his Chevy S-10 pickup to the Sportsman win as Mike Baker was his final-round opponent.

Dexter Gomez was Sunday’s Junior winner and Aaron Martin finished runner-up. Rose was the weekend points winner for the Juniors and won a Mychron-5 660 data logger.

With the Ken-Mor Bluegrass Nationals now in the books, Kentucky Dragway hosts another huge weekend of racing with HalloThanksMas. Saturday’s City 64 again features $5,000 and an IHRA Ironman trophy to the winner.
