MILLINGTON, Tenn. (Oct. 22, 2017) — Hundreds of International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit SuperSeries track champions, along with Summit Team Finals divisional champions from around the United States and Canada, gathered at Memphis International Raceway on Oct. 19-21 for the IHRA Summit World Finals.
MILLINGTON, Tenn. (Oct 21, 2017) — Drivers from Wisconsin International Raceway, Elk Creek Dragway and Carolina Dragway were among Day 1 Gambler’s Race winners Friday at the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit World Finals at Memphis International Raceway.
Winners in the Top and Mod divisions earned $1,000 plus a $7,500 gift certificate towards a Stage 1 dragster from Amercian Race Cars.
Dion Degnitz from Random Lake, Wisc., representing Wisconsin International Raceway, lost in the first round, but used a buy-back and went on to win in the Top (Box) Gambler’s Race. Degnitz matched his dial-in with a 5.261-second elapsed time at 128.97 mph after a .010 reaction time. Jim Shawn from Davie, Fla., representing Immokalee Dragway, red-lighted with a .-003 at the start. He posted a 4.709-second run at 146.11 mph on a 4.69 dial-in.
MILLINGTON, Tenn. (Oct. 21, 2017) — One of the International Hot Rod Association’s most popular championship awards, a brand-new, turn-key, JR Race Car Junior Dragster, was unveiled Friday night during a special ceremony at the IHRA Summit World Finals.
Memphis International Raceway (MIR), site of this weekend’s International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit World Finals, is the Mid-South’s premiere racing destination for racers and spectators alike. The facility, located minutes from Memphis, Tenn., includes multiple Motorsports venues allowing it to host a wide variety of events.
The Onawa Racing and Events Complex (OREC) in Onawa, Iowa held an open house on Saturday, October 14 to a packed crowd of enthusiast racers and fans.
The world’s best Sportsman racers will take center stage this weekend at the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit World Finals at Memphis International Raceway on October 19-21, 2017.
Racers never know when they might “get on a roll.” When they do, they know to enjoy it while it lasts because it never does, but this year, for Paige Montgomery, it lasted all the way to the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit Sportsman National Championship Junior Dragster World Championship. Montgomery’s season started on a roll, and she never looked back. Late last month, she hoisted the IHRA World Championship Ironman trophy.
