As the owner of Poseidon Trucking and a successful bracket racer in the Top (Box) class, Mcneal is quick to share his passion for the sport with others. He knows the racers at the Caddo Mills, Texas track as already as he competed on the I-30 team at the recent IHRA Division 4 (Renegades) Team Finals.
It’s been a dream of the 28-year-old to become a track owner for a while. His background goes back to racing Junior Dragsters at nine years old.
“It came up where this track was close to home so I had the opportunity to buy it,” Mcneal said. “We’re going to have all kinds of racing — bracket racing, no prep racing, grudge racing, no time, big-money bracket racing. We’re going to have a little bit of everything.”
Exciting news for his fellow racers, Mcneal has $850,000 in upgrades planned for the facility. In two weeks, work will be done to fix bumps on the track. The shutdown area will be extended and parking will be increased where they can handle 350 rigs with no problem.
There is also a good concessions area called Poseidon Filling Station.
Plenty of big events are coming up including a huge no prep race called the “Baddest Tire in America.” But rest assured, Mcneal still has a huge heart for bracket racing. He’s a former Race of Champions winner in Division 4.
It’s one reason he wants the track to remain under IHRA sanction with great programs like the IHRA Summit SuperSeries, the largest and most prestigious national championship in bracket racing.
“I’m a racer who now owns a track for the racers,” Mcneal said. “People always see the big checks and money, but I love the memories of it. I’ve had Wallys, but never raced for an Ironman. To have that trophy up there, I can imagine the memories that come from it. You see that trophy, you see the passion of why you do it.”
