That includes this year’s qualifiers and those who weren’t able to make it in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions. The IHRA is certainly glad to have our Northern neighbors make the trip to Holly Springs Motorsports and to join in the festivities.
The list includes past and present champions from Great Bend Motorplex, Interlake Dragway and St. Thomas Dragway.
For example with Great Bend Motorplex, that means not only is this year’s Junior Dragster champion Jordan Crowe scheduled to compete, but so are champions from the previous two seasons like 2021 Box champion Kevin Knight and 2020 No Box champion Rodney Gomes.
In the case of Interlake Dragway, drivers are making over a 2,200-mile trek from Manitoba to Mississippi. But, it’s well worth it. No Box champion Wes Griffiths will be one of those trying to win $20,000 in prize money from Summit Racing Equipment, an IHRA World Championship Ironman Trophy, an IHRA Gold Card and IHRA World Championship Diamond Ring.
It’s also a second chance for 2021 St. Thomas Dragway Junior Dragster champion Arnold Fox after he missed out due to no fault of his own last season.
Good luck to all the Canadian racers as it’s great to have you back competing at the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals in 2022.
