With a longstanding partnership with Summit Racing Equipment, the program is the world championship for thousands of IHRA-member racers at dozens of IHRA-sanctioned tracks.
The program crowns World Champions in Top (Box), Mod (No Box), Sportsman and Junior Dragster. In 2021, the program was the first to nationally recognize electric vehicles in a world championship format.
The IHRA Summit Team Finals remain wildly popular, and both track and division champions love the opportunity to compete at the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals in Holly Springs, Mississippi.
Don’t take our word for it. Listen to what different track operators have to say.
Kentucky Dragway returned to the IHRA family in 2022 and the Summit SuperSeries was a big reason why. The racers couldn’t hide their excitement when track owner Aaron Sipple announced they would be a part of the IHRA Summit SuperSeries and IHRA Summit Team Finals.
“I love the Summit SuperSeries, the bracket finals and if you have your ‘X’ number and have met all the requirements, how you qualify for the World Finals,” he said. “When we were talking to our bracket racers, you could see in their eyes, their mannerisms a feel that IHRA cares about the weekend warrior.”
Paris Dragway left it up to the racers when it was time to renew its sanctioning agreement with the International Hot Rod Association. The historic Texas track found out how popular the IHRA Summit SuperSeries program was with their competitors.
“It has worked well. What I like about IHRA is how they look out for the smaller tracks like us,” track owner Randy Boren said. “I let the racers decide what they wanted to do last year. They wanted to go race with the IHRA and the Summit SuperSeries.”
It was the same case with Thunder Valley Dragways in South Dakota. They see the IHRA’s commitment to grassroots, Sportsman racing through its longstanding partnership with Summit Racing Equipment.
“Our racers like the opportunity to go to the IHRA (Summit SuperSeries) World Finals. We left the decision to stay with IHRA up to the racers,” Thunder Valley Dragways Manager Cherrie Engbrecht said. “It was nearly a unanimous decision with how the IHRA programs have worked for them.”
