Racers will compete for the IHRA Ironman trophies in three classes — Super Pro (Top), Pro (Mod) and Sportsman. There are races in other classes — Motorcycles, Footbrake, Trophy and Junior Dragster — as well.
For the Super Pro class, they will be racing for $1,200 winner’s purse and the Pro class has a $1,000 top prize with a minimum of 32 cars. It’s a $60 entry fee for Super Pro and $50 for Pro entry.
The IHRA Ironman Classic program is offered to all IHRA member tracks. Prior to this program, a Sportsman racer could only win an Ironman if they traveled to an IHRA Summit Team Finals, Sportsman Spectacular or World Finals. This program gives local tracks a chance to create extra excitement in their bracket program and offer competitors a chance to win the prestigious Ironman.
The weekend starts with a Friday night test-and-tune. Gates open at 5 p.m. with on-track action from 6-10 p.m. Saturday sees gates open at 2 p.m. and time runs at 4 p.m. with eliminations to follow. Spectator admission is $5 Friday and $10 Saturday. Kids 12-under are admitted free.
