Five classes — Super Pro (Top), Mod (No Box), Sportsman, Motorcycles and Junior Dragsters — will be in action as racers compete for the prestigious IHRA Ironman trophies.
The Super Pro class, sponsored by K&R Performance Engineering, features a $2,500-to-win race with $800 to the runner-up based on 100 cars. It’s a $75 entry fee. The No Box class, sponsored by B&B Race Cars, includes a $1,500 winner’s purse and $500 to the runner-up.
The Sportsman class based on 7.50 and slower cars with no transbrake. Mashburn’s Collision Center is serving as sponsor for the Junior Dragster class, which has a $1,000 total payout. Finally, the Motorcycles will run separate if there is a 10-bike minimum.
There is also a test-and-tune with shootouts scheduled for Friday night. Gates open at 5 p.m. with the shootouts to start at 8 p.m. There are 16-car shootouts for Pro, No Box and Juniors. Drivers must run radials or slicks on the cars and no street tires. There is also an eight-bike shootout with race tires required.
Spectator tickets are $10 each day with fans 12-under admitted free.
The IHRA Ironman Classic program is offered to all IHRA member tracks. Prior to this program, a Sportsman racer could only win an Ironman if they traveled to an IHRA Summit Team Finals, Sportsman Spectacular or World Finals. This program gives local tracks a chance to create extra excitement in their bracket program and offer competitors a chance to win the prestigious Ironman.
