King of the Bluegrass at Kentucky Dragway Rescheduled for Saturday

CLAY CITY, Ky. — Plenty of history and great payouts highlight the 43rd annual King of the Bluegrass event rescheduled Saturday at Kentucky Dragway.

The IHRA Ironman Classic is part of the event with Ironman trophies awarded to the Top ET, Modified, Footbrake, Jr. Dragster and Sportsman classes. At the end of the day, there will be a run-off for the King of the Bluegrass crown.

The Top ET features a $10,000 payout with 100 entries and if less still a $5,000 guarantee. Modified boasts $4,000-to-win with 50 entries and a guarantee of $2,000 if less entries. The Footbrake and Junior Dragster classes will also be contested on the 1/8-mile, while the Sportsman class will use the whole 1/4-mile. There’s also a race for the Daily Drivers.

This event is part of the huge 60th anniversary season at Kentucky Dragway.

The cost is for crew / spectators $20 Saturday. Kids 7-12 are $10 admission with 6-under admitted free. Gates open at 11 a.m. with time runs at 2 p.m. and eliminations to follow. Sunoco Race Fuels are available at the track.

There’s also a test-and-tune Friday night with gates open at 5 p.m. and testing to begin at 6:30 p.m. A Gambler’s race is scheduled for 9 p.m., while the Unbridled Spirit Jet Dragster is scheduled to race the Straight Axle Mafia Gasser Gas Hole both nights. Friday admission for crew / spectators is $15 with kids 7-12 half off and those 6-under free.
