The prestigious bracket race comes to Albuquerque Dragway as it part of a 60th anniversary celebration of the historic track. This race is on the heels of Albuquerque Dragway recently hosting the Conquerors of Chaos — New Mexico Nationals for Funny Cars.
Now, the IHRA Ironman Classic focuses on the grassroots, Sportsman racers who support the track’s weekly programs. Racers in five classes — Super Pro (Top), Pro (Mod), Sportsman, Junior Dragster and Motorcycle will compete for the prestigious IHRA Ironman trophies.
Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing will start at 5 p.m. Entry fees are as follows: Top $75, Mod $60, Sportsman $30, Junior Dragster $20, and Motorcycle $60. The cost for spectators is $15.
The IHRA Ironman Classic program is offered to all IHRA member tracks. Prior to this program, a Sportsman racer could only win an Ironman if they traveled to an IHRA Summit Team Finals, Sportsman Spectacular or World Finals. This program gives local tracks a chance to create extra excitement in their bracket program and offer competitors a chance to win the prestigious Ironman.
