Thursday, 20 June 2024

BUNKER HILL, IN — David Sherbondy and Billy Burns raced to Top and Mod victories at the IHRA Ironman Classic at Bunker Hill Dragstrip on Saturday, June 15.

Jim Andrysiak (Sportsman), Jonny Ard (Motorcycle) and Tony Virgilio also went home with prestigious IHRA Ironman trophies after winning their respective classes at Indiana’s oldest drag strip.

Sherbondy captured the Bellman Oil Top (Box) victory when final-round opponent Melissa Burns fouled at the start. Sherbondy went down the track in his dragster in 5.05 seconds on a 5.02 dial after a solid .011 reaction time. Burns was a little too quick at the tree -.026, which offset an otherwise winning effort of 6.001 reaction time on a 6.00 dial.
