Dragway 42 to Present IHRA Ironman Trophies to Hootenanny Main Event Winners

WEST SALEM, OH — Big money and the prestigious IHRA Ironman trophies will be on the line when Dragway 42 hosts the third annual Hootenanny No Box Open this weekend.

The three-day event at “Northern Ohio’s Place to Race” features a $10,000-to-win race on Saturday, and $5,000-to-win main events on Friday and Sunday. The winner of each day’s main event will receive a prestigious IHRA Ironman trophy.

Action starts with Safety Track Friday Prelude that has the $5,000 winner’s prize and a $100 entry fee. BMD Custom Designs is sponsoring a pair of Friday Night Shootouts. The High Roller is a $200 entry fee that pays $4,000 to the winner. The Low Roller costs $100 to enter with a $2,000 winner’s purse.

Each of the Shootouts are limited to 32 entries with no double entries and no buybacks. These will be sold at the gate on a first-come, first-served basis. Racers may only enter one shootout.

Battleaxe Vickers Performance Transmissions is the sponsor of Saturday’s $10,000 race. It’s $125 to enter with $100 round money starting with the third round. More action is on tap with Wired Designs LLC Saturday Night Duck Race with $1,250 to the winner. Spaces are limited to the first 64 to sign up with no double entries. Drivers must be completely out of competition before the fourth round of main event to enter.

It wraps up with the Maxx Performance Parts Sunday Finale with $5,000 to the winner. It’s a $100 entry fee. The Just-N-Time Junior Dragster Clash takes place both Saturday and Sunday with $1,000 to the winner. It’s a $100 weekend entry.

Spectator and crew costs are $50 for the weekend or $20 each day. It’s $10 for the weekend or $5 daily for kids 6-12. Those 5-under are admitted free.

Gates open 8 a.m. Friday with time trials at 10 a.m. followed by eliminations. There’s a 7 p.m. pit party. Gates open Saturday at 8 a.m. with time trials to start at 9 a.m. Eliminations follow with the Duck Race starting after round 4 of the main event. 

On Sunday, the gates open at 8 a.m. followed by a Junior Dragster time trial at 9 a.m. A time trial for new entries is at 9:15 a.m. followed by eliminations.
