The IHRA Ironman Classic program is offered to all IHRA member tracks. Prior to this program, a Sportsman racer could only win an Ironman if they traveled to an IHRA Summit Team Finals, Sportsman Spectacular or World Finals. This program gives local tracks a chance to create extra excitement in their bracket program and offer competitors a chance to win the prestigious Ironman.

Albuquerque Dragway features a mile-high elevation and big fluctuations with the density altitude. The track hosted an Ironman Classic in 2023.

Rick Marcy captured the Box win with a dead-on eight run paired with a .008 reaction time. Other winners of Ironman trophies included: Max Tafoya in Mod (Box), Juan Moreno Jr. in the Junior Dragsters and Mike Parish, who doubled up with wins in Sportsman and Motorcycle.
