The International Hot Rod Association™ (IHRA) has postponed the Summit Racing Pro-Am event at State Capitol Raceway in Port Allen, Louisiana, due to weather. The new date for the Summit Racing Pro-Am event at State Capitol Raceway June 5-7.
IRG Sports + Entertainment™ and the International Hot Rod Association™ (IHRA) are proud to announce all episodes of the IHRA Nitro Jam TV show now are available on iTunes. Fans may watch each 2014 championship event, including races at Tucson, San Antonio, Bradenton, Palm Beach, Rockingham, Maryland, Grand Bend, Edmonton, Cordova, Pittsburgh, Michigan and the season finale at Memphis.
The IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series will invade both coasts of Florida this month for two national events: The April 17-18 IHRA Nitro Jam Southern Nationals at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton and the April 24-25 Nitro Jam Palm Beach Nationals Presented By Sunoco Race Fuels at Palm Beach International Raceway in Jupiter. The races are the third and fourth national events on the 2015 IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series schedule.
Nitro Jam is “heads-up” drag racing entertainment – first racer to the finish line wins – in all five pro categories. The exciting show includes qualifying and eliminations for: Crower Pro Mod, AMSOIL Nitro Funny Car presented by Aeromotive, U.S. Bounty Hunters Pro Stock, Nitro Harley and Jet Dragster classes.
IRG Sports + Entertainment™ and the International Hot Rod Association™ (IHRA) are proud to announce the owners of Walla Walla Drag Strip have signed a multi-year sanctioning agreement to join the IHRA as a member track.
Originally known as Bonanza Raceway when it was constructed in 1970, Walla Walla Drag Strip is located at 12121 Middle Waitburg Road in Walla Walla, Washington. The track became Walla Walla Drag Strip in 2009 when its present owners purchased the 1/8-mile facility.
“We are pleased to welcome Walla Walla Drag Strip to our growing IHRA family,” said IHRA President Scott Gardner. “Walla Walla has been in operation for 45 years and is one of the most respected tracks in the Northwest.”
The International Hot Rod Association™ has announced the addition of its three Junior Dragster classes to the program at the June 19-20 IHRA Nitro Jam President’s Cup Nationals at Maryland International Raceway in Budd’s Creek, Maryland.
The Budd’s Creek race meet also is a Division 9 Summit Racing Pro-Am Tour claiming event and the three Junior Dragster classes – Junior Beginner, Junior Advanced and Junior Master – will have the opportunity to race under the lights of the IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series.
The International Hot Rod Association™ has announced the modification of the following “in-division” claiming events for the Summit Racing Pro-Am Tour in order to better accommodate travel concerns for competitors in certain geographic regions.
“Certain divisions did not have seven events available in their division or did not have feasible options of four ‘in-division’ events that were within a reasonable travel distance,” said Mike Baker, IHRA’s Senior Director of Competition and Racing Operations.
The International Hot Rod Association™ held its annual Summit Racing Pro-Am Tour event at Pine Valley Raceway in Lufkin, Texas, over the weekend of March 28-29. Beautiful weather graced eastern Texas’ premier quarter-mile drag strip for two complete events.
“Everything went really well. We had good weather, a great car count and hardly any oil-downs,” said track owner Bill Bailey. “The racers were really happy too.”
The International Hot Rod Association will debut a new class – No Throttle Stop 11.50 -- at the April 17-18 Nitro Jam Southern Nationals in Bradenton, Florida. The class will allow “no-box” racers to compete in a heads-up index format at select Nitro Jam event weekends.
The NTS 11.50 class was slated to debut in March at San Antonio, Texas, but was postponed due to a schedule change. In addition to the April 17-18 Bradenton event, NTS 11.50 also will be contested at Nitro Jam events at Maryland International Raceway (June 19-20) and US 131 Motorsports Park (August 7-8).
IRG Sports + Entertainment™ and the International Hot Rod Association™ (IHRA) are proud to announce U.S. 13 Dragway, located in Delmar, Delaware, has signed a sanctioning agreement to join the IHRA as a member track.
Constructed in 1963, U.S. 13 Dragway is one of the country’s longest-running tracks. U.S. 13 Dragway was constructed by the Cathell family, sole owner-operators of the facility throughout its 52-year history. U.S. 13 Dragway currently is managed by the founders’ son, Charles Cathell. The historic quarter-mile drag strip near the Delaware-Maryland border is part of a 155-acre motorsports complex that also is home to a dirt oval track and go-kart racing facility.
“We are pleased to welcome the Cathells and the revered U.S. 13 Dragway to our growing IHRA family,” said IHRA President Scott Gardner. “U.S. 13 Dragway is one of the most respected tracks in the country and we are impressed by their efforts to maintain a friendly atmosphere toward racers and fans alike.”
