Marion, Texas — The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit Sportsman National Championship moved to San Antonio Raceway on May 17-19 for the fourth of 15 weekends that comprise the inaugural IHRA Summit Sportsman National Championship.

US 41 Motorplex has become the latest Indiana track to sign a multi-year sanctioning agreement with the International Hot Rod Association.
The Morocco, Indiana, facility features a quarter-mile asphalt dragstrip. It also plays host to mud bog and drifting competitions.
Three of drag racing’s biggest stars have joined the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) professional competition advisory board, the sanctioning body announced today. They will work directly with IHRA president Mike Dunn.
The new board members, Larry Dixon, Melanie Troxel and Whit Bazemore, have a combined 91 national-event wins and numerous decades of experience. The drivers will work with Dunn and various additional IHRA personnel to counsel the sanctioning body on competition-related issues. Among the areas in which they will work are class structure, formatting of the series and various racer-related plans and topics.
Port Allen, La. - After two weeks off, the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit Sportsman National Championship moved to State Capital Raceway outside Baton Rouge for the third of 15 weekends of racing that comprise the inaugural IHRA Summit Sportsman National Championship.
The future did not look bright in May of 2016. An electrical fire destroyed the tower, but now, the tower has been rebuilt and Penwell Knights Dragway at Caprock Motorplex in Penwell, Texas has entered into a multi-year sanctioning agreement with the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA), the drag racing sanctioning body announced today. The quarter-mile track, which has hosted IHRA Division team finals competitions, was an IHRA track for many years but was last sanctioned by the IHRA in 2015.
As a reminder to all competitors, IHRA Chassis certifications are mandatory on all entries running 9.00 or quicker 1/4 mile and 6.00 or quicker 1/8th mile or any entry that exceeds 150mph. Sportsman or 7.50 and slower 1/4 (4.50 and slower 1/8) blue tags expire 3 years from the date of certification. Professional or 7.50 and quicker 1/4 ( 4.50 and quicker 1/8) red tags expire every 2 years from the date of certification
Chassis Certifications are also done at all Summit Sportsman National Championship and Summit Team Finals Events as well as remote locations listed below.

The March 5 IHRA Summit Sportsman National Championship race at State Capitol Raceway has been rained out. With the series scheduled to return to the Baton Rouge, La. area in June, this rained-out event will be added to the weekend schedule creating a triple-header weekend June 1-4.
Because qualifying was not completed for this event, the rescheduled race will be open to new entries in June. A new weekend schedule will be created and posted on IHRA.com when available.
Muncie Dragway is the latest track to sign a sanctioning agreement with the International Hot Rod Association.
The Albany, Indiana, facility opened on Easter Sunday in 1960, and features a quarter-mile drag strip and racing four days a week.
The International Hot Rod Association announces that the historic Bunker Hill Dragstrip has signed a multi-year sanctioning agreement. Bunker Hill becomes an IHRA member track.
When the IHRA Summit Sportsman National Championship visits Darlington, S.C. on the last weekend of March, IHRA competitors will enjoy a triple-race weekend as the Feb. 12 event that was cancelled at Palm Beach International Raceway has been rescheduled for the Darlington weekend, the IHRA announced today. The IHRA Summit Sportsman National Championship is a 15-weekend, 30-race championship event for Sportsman racers with most event weekends streaming live on ESPN3.
