Penwell Knights Racers Score Key Wins in IHRA Summit SuperSeries Action

ODESSA, Texas — It’s still early in the season, but racing has been red hot at Penwell Knights Raceway in the IHRA Summit SuperSeries.

Mikel McQueen led the group of Saturday winners with his final-round victory over Bobby Coppedge in the Box class. It was an all-Gossett final in No Box where Benny Gossett won when his son Collin triggered the red light.

Veteran Robert Schoemer was the winner in the Sportsman class where he faced off with Ronnie Seely in the final. Tadd Sprayberry took the win in Motorcycle as David Baugh was runner-up on the bikes.

Bunker Hill Drag Strip is Set to Host Ironman Classic

BUNKER HILL, Ind. — Historic Bunker Hill Dragstrip hosts the Ironman Classic on Saturday as part of an exciting two days of IHRA Summit SuperSeries racing.

Racers in five different classes — Top (Box), Mod (No Box), Motorcycles, Sportsman and Junior Dragster — will compete for the prestigious IHRA Ironman trophies on Saturday. Another full day of IHRA SuperSeries competition is set for Sunday.

Located a little over an hour north of Indianapolis, Bunker Hill is one of the country’s most storied raceways, first opened in 1956, making it the oldest drag strip in Indiana.

UNION GROVE, Wisc. — “The biggest little track in the world” saw more great action over the past weekend with IHRA Summit SuperSeries points races at Great Lakes Dragway.

Patrick Sarauer headlined the list of Saturday winners, celebrating both Mod ET and Combo victories. Steve Keller took the top honors in Top ET at the nation’s oldest continually operating, purpose-built drag strip.

HOLLY SPRINGS, Ms. — Talk about some heavy hitters winning in IHRA Summit SuperSeries action at Holly Springs Motorsports Park.

Cliff Hubbard was congratulated by his brother-in-law, six-time IHRA Top Fuel World Champion Clay Millican, after winning Sunday’s Super Pro race at Holly Springs Motorsports Park. Hubbard, whose wife Leigh is also a champion racer, drove his dragster to the win over runner-up David Elam.

Kentucky Dragway has Biggest Memorial Weekend Race to Date

CLAY CITY, Ky. — Kentucky Dragway had its largest event of the season and its biggest Memorial Weekend Remember and Honor race ever last week.

The action kicked off with the Friday Night City 64 race with Zach Combs the winner and Charley Denny runner-up.

Saturday featured a full day of racing with Justin Gaffney the winner in Top ET and Chris Moore his final-round opponent. There was another strong showing from the Combs family as Laine Blackburn won in Modified and “Lil” Phil Combs was runner-up.

Adkins sweep highlights IHRA season opener at Dragway 42

WEST SALEM, Ohio — Josh Adkins hails from Sandusky, Ohio, a city known for its thrill rides at the famed Cedar Point amusement park.

Adkins had his own thrill ride over the weekend with his brown Chevrolet Camaro racing to back-to-back Mod wins at the IHRA Summit SuperSeries season opener at Dragway 42.

It was a slightly better start that proved the difference on Saturday as he and final-round opponent Amy Reed were both right on their dial-in times. Turning the page, he took advantage of Mark Provost being a little too quick on the light to win Sunday’s race.
