Even if he wasn’t the current point leader, even if he hadn’t won two of the three IHRA Nitro Jam races contested thus far this season and even if his new Dean’s Casing Service Camaro wasn’t one of the fastest Pro Stock cars ever to negotiate the quarter mile, Cary Goforth probably still would be the favorite in this week’s IHRA Spring Nationals at Rockingham Dragway.

As the International Hot Rod Association™ (IHRA) continues to grow under the leadership of new parent company IRG Sports + Entertainment, the motorsports world continues to swell with excitement regarding the new direction of the company now well into its fifth decade of existence.

The International Hot Rod Association™ (IHRA) announced today that the IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL Division 9 race at GALOT Motorsports Park has been moved from its original date later this month to September.

Two of the biggest names in professional drag racing make a nostalgic return to Rockingham Dragway for the IHRA Nitro Jam Spring Nationals May 17-18 and their homecoming recalls an era during which the sport enjoyed its greatest popularity as well as its most impressive growth.

It is one of the oldest, most prestigious events in the history of the International Hot Rod Association, and after a three year hiatus, the IHRA Nitro Jam Spring Nationals are finally back at Rockingham Dragway.

Heavy rains and a less than favorable forecast for the weekend have forced the cancellation of the remainder of the IHRA Nitro Jam Palm Beach Nationals at Palm Beach International Raceway.

Up until the final pass of the night, it was beginning to look like another Goforth, DeFlorian showdown in Mountain Motor Pro Stock.

That was until Todd Hoerner pulled to the line.

Hollywood, California-based Rio Vista Universal, whose recent success with season 1 of the new weekly tv series, “Gear Heads," recently prompted an immediate season 2 order which will go into production later this year, announces an exclusive deal with the International Hot Rod Association to produce the IHRA's Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series for broadcast exclusively beginning October on MAVTV. The deal was cemented this week between Jason Rittenberry, CEO, IRG Sports + Entertainment, Raymond Iddings, Show Creator, and James Ganiere, CEO of Rio Vista Universal.

Competition is in every man’s gene pool.

Whether it is a friendly game of pickup or a simple game of cards, competition is a quick and easy way to settle a dispute, release some aggression or earn bragging rights.

Of course, competition takes a unique turn when it comes to battling a family member. And rarer still, what happens when that competition occurs at more than 200 miles per hour only inches apart where one wrong move can result in, not just a loss, but a devestating crash?

The past few weeks have been whirlwind of excitement for rookie racer Mike McIntire Jr.

After announcing that he would be taking over his father’s seat in the “McAttack” Nitro Funny Car back in March, McIntire has enjoyed a great deal of success and fanfare to start his young career. From turning the wrenches on the famous orange and black nostalgia Camaro to powering to his first career victory only three races into the season three weeks ago in Bradenton, Florida, McIntire has become the talk of the IHRA world.
