It has been a rough start to the year weather-wise for the racers of Divisions 4 and 9 on the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL with both season openers postponed due to rain, but those events have now been rescheduled and both will take place the weekend of July 11-13.

Big crowds, great racing and a tremendous show were only part of the storyline coming out of this past weekend’s IHRA San Antonio Nationals presented by Good Vibrations Motorsports at San Antonio Raceway.

It was a night of big numbers and record runs as the stars of the IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series produced a memorable and historic night in front of yet another capacity crowd at the IHRA San Antonio Nationals presented by Good Vibrations Motorsports at San Antonio Raceway.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

The location may have changed, but the names remained consistent during the second stop of the 2014 IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series tour as Jason Rupert (Nitro Funny Car), Cary Goforth (Pro Stock) and Mike Scott (Nitro Harley), all winners during the IHRA season opener in Tucson, Arizona one week ago, once again topped their respective classes during Friday qualifying at the IHRA San Antonio Nationals presented by Good Vibrations Motorsports at San Antonio Raceway. Jim Maroney (Nitro Altered) and Elaine Larsen Jet Dragster) rounded out the top qualifiers from Texas.

The Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL race at Mooresville Dragway scheduled for this weekend has been postponed. A reschedule date will be announced in the coming days.

With the first IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series race in the books, one thing is abundantly clear – the chase for the 2014 IHRA professional championships is going to be intense.

The competition proved incredible close at the season opening Southwestern Nationals presented by Good Vibrations Motorsports at Southwestern International Raceway over the weekend as Jason Rupert (Nitro Funny Car), Cary Goforth (Pro Stock), Mike Scott (Nitro Harley) and Mike Hilsabeck (Nitro Altered) topped the professional categories, with Marisha Falk adding a win in Jet Dragster.

TUCSON, Ariz. – The International Hot Rod Association’s (IHRA) Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series returns to San Antonio Raceway in San Antonio, Texas on March 28-29 for the IHRA San Antonio Nationals presented by Good Vibrations Motorsports.

If the Southwestern Nationals at Southwestern International Raceway are any indication of what is to come in the new era in IHRA drag racing, then be prepared for one wild ride.

The return of traditional qualifying and a healthy championship battle was just as sweet as expected as the IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series opened the 2014 season on Friday to the fanfare of an excited crowd at the 2014 IHRA Southwestern Nationals at Southwestern International Raceway.
