Shawn Beatty has done well for many seasons in the drag racing at Lancaster National Speedway and Dragway. Until last Friday, though, a season track point championship had eluded him.
The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) hosted the Division 3 IHRA Summit Team Finals at Keystone Raceway Park over the weekend. The racers battled teams from around their region as well as the weather to claim a coveted Ironman and make a bid to advance to the Summit World Finals in Memphis, Tennessee next month.
This weekend’s Division 2 East IHRA Summit Team Finals scheduled for South Georgia Motorsports Park has been rescheduled for October 5 - 9, 2016 at Carolina Dragway.
Tropical Storm Hermine put a damper on the kickoff of the IHRA Summit Pro-Am Tour last weekend at Carolina Dragway forcing the schedule to shift to a day later than scheduled. The Division 1, 2, and 9 racers waited out the rain and ran under sunny skies for the remainder of the triple-header event weekend. Chris Webb (Hot Rod), Glen Furguson (Quick Rod), Clayton Roberts (Top Dragster), Cale Pittman (Junior Beginner) and Kate Hall (Junior Advanced) doubled up and walked away with two Ironman trophies.
Joshua Nelson (Beginners/Ben Bruce Team 2), Trace Casey (Intermediate/Pine Valley Team 1) and Sam Hickey (Masters/Little River Team 3) claimed main event championships at the JR Race Car IHRA Junior Team Finals hosted by Little River Raceway. Pine Valley Team 1 captured the overall Team Championship, holding off Pine Valley Team 2 by just two rounds.

Pete D'Agnolo swept the weekend with 2 wins in Hot Rod and 1 win SuperStock. He also won the TNT bonus race that was contested on Friday evening.
Chad Logan (JR Masters) and Aliana Vogler (JR Beginner) also swept their respective classes over the weekend.
IRG Sports + Entertainment (IRGSE) and the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) today announced the relocation of IRGSE and IHRA to new and larger offices in West Palm Beach, Florida and the addition of an IHRA marketing and team servicing office in Indianapolis. The new office space will assist the recent and continuing growth of both companies as well as give the IHRA a presence in the Indianapolis market to assist with IHRA Dragster 1: World Series of Drag Racing Series planning.
The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit Pro-Am Tour Division 3 at US 131 Motorsports Park event got off to a wet start with rain shifting the three-day schedule and pushing the doubleheader to Sunday. The sportsman racers hung in there and 17 individual winners brought a coveted IHRA Ironman. Scott Wasko and Scott Chitty dominated their classes taking home the win in Good Vibrations Top Sportsman and NTS 11.50 in both races.
